Hello, Scenic started a knock/vibration but only at top end of first and second gear and upon investigation the top engine mounting rubbers have completely perished. I was driving it and thought it had blown a hole in the exhaust manifold as that seemed to be where the noise was coming from, which kind of fits in with the top engine mounting.
However, when my husband had one side jacked up to have a look underneath and the engine was running, he noticed that the front wheel was gently rotating - would stop if he put a hand on it and then start again when released. Does this mean the knock could be more gearbox or clutch related?
Thanks
Also... is replacing the engine mounting a relatively simple job? Will he need any special tools other than the norm?
