I have a knocking sound which I think is coming from rear drivers side, mostly when turning left at low speed, occasionally when turning right or going over bumps.

Both sides rear spring mounts have now been changed but this hasn't stopped the problem. Exhaust, coils and suspension arms checked and all look ok.

Does anyone have suggestions please what it could be ? Or what else I can check?

Been wondering about drive shaft, 3 of us think the sound is coming from the back but maybe you're right about the sound travelling.

Rear suspension was all replaced last year so shouldn't be that.

Can you tell when a drive shaft has gone by looking at it ? And which side would it likely be?

What side is your exhaust on,. Need a helper here AND someone you really trust
Start your engine.
Get a cloth grab hold of the tail pipe and move it from side to side, and up and down..
Now move out the way, get the person to put the car in first gear and hold the clutch on the bite.
get them to dip and bite the clutch, the engine will rock backwards and forwards.
ONCE happy THE person understands this get them do it, while you hold onto the tail pipe..
See if you feel the tail pipe raise up, or move from side to side, while the engine is on clutch bite.

JUST be careful not to stand behind the car too long with the engine running..
AND go have a glass of milk afterwards . ( Stop you getting headache, and that horrible taste in your mouth )
