Hi Folks

My temperature gauge has become lazy anyone no why ?
When I idle round town it sits at about the quarter mark . When I acclerate upto about 70mph sits at the normal just under half .
Do you think this is a therm on its way out or a dodgy gauge .

Thanks ide man

Check the voltage output of the alternator at idle and also at around 3000 RPM. Could be a voltage problem making the gauge rise and fall or a faulty temperature transmitter.:)

Same problem on our 2.0 IDE at about 65k miles. i fiddled with the plugs and the sensor under the bonnet, it seemed to have improved. Has your car had a coolant change yet? Ours is a little overdue, i just wonder if a flush may clean off the sensor or if the problem is a corroded wire on the plug.
