Hi all,
Ok first of all this is my first car :)

I bought a 2003 Laguna 1.9 DCi. Currently it's sitting around 72500 miles.

I got the "clunking"! Yep its the rear bushes. I got a quote from a dealer for £149 fitted which I think is good compared to some prices on here.

It now also seems go be going through coolant pretty quickly. I'm getting the pump checked while its in for the bushes but am slightly concerned about the posts talking about the hg.

How much would this cost to fix?

Should I cut my losses? I'm putting it through MOT next month and also put 2 front tyres on a couple of months ago. I guess I'd like to know should I hold onto it or once it gets through MOT sell it quick.

All advice appreciated

If the water pump needs replacing and it is done properly at a Renault dealer it will cost approx £450.00.

This is because the auxiliary belt and the timing belt have to be removed to access the pump, it is recommended that any belts removed are renewed.

You could get the price down of course by using a normal garage but it still won't be cheap because of the time involved.

So, yes, it can get worse.

We run a 2001 Laguna 1.9DCi at work. We have gone from one problem to another. Just had the clutch, clutch pressure plate AND flywheel replaced cost over £1000. The first problem was with a tyre valve, we ended up having the tyre pressure sensors ripped out and having the computer up dated. Then the nearside ABS sensor went, 8 months later the offside ABS sensor went. I have a phase 1 laguna and approached my brother (a renault used specialist) to upgrade to a phase 2 hatchback. He refused to sell me one citing the problems we were having with the work vehicle. I am now looking at a Scenic. Yes I would sell your Laguna as soon as you have the MOT, don't PX it, sell it privately.
