I've checked the gas levels which are OK. The revs increase when I switch on the air con, but it does not blow coole air, if anything its slightly warmer. I did have a new alternator fitted a few weeks ago, but does anyone have a solution for me please?

Hi and welcome to the forum its good to have you onbaord,

Can i ask how you checked the gas level?do you mean you had it checked?,i ask as i was not aware you could check it yourself but i could be wrong:eek:

Are all the circulation flaps in working order on your cars dashboard?i ask as it possible they are stuck closed?there for not letting in cold air??just a guess:eek:,

Iam sure other members will be along soon to help, cheers Donald

Laguna Air Con

If you have the correct fitting, you can put a gauge on to check levels, but I had mine checked by a specialist Air con centre. I read that some one had cleaned the cabin sensor, and I've done that today, loads of dust came out and now the auto setting seems to be working ie; it hadn't been powering up the fan to max but it is now, so it may be that that is the problem solved. The expert did say that it seems that the ECU is not telling the AC to work, a blocked sensor could be the cause.
Thanks for your reply Donald

Thanks dave_mezza2006, that's something else I didn't think of!

Taken out the Pollen filter ( FILTHY) compressor definately working, but no cooler air coming through. I think I'll have to have the gas checked again, I can't think of anything else at the moment!

Has the car got climate control ? What happens when you put the climate control down to its minimum ? Does it get colder then ? Actually looking at your model you probably havent, so scrap that idea !

I'd Take the car to kwik fit. They guarentee to make the air con 10% colder or give you your money back. They also check for leaks in the system for you. Then take it from there. :)

Mine has got climate control, and the temp does get cooler, but not las good as it was.
I did go to Kwik Fit (Neath) twice! Left it there for 2 hrs on Sat, they didn't have the right connectors, yesterday for 1 1/2 hrs, and although only one in front, they still didn't get to do my AC.

Im suprised at kwik fit not having the right connectors

Are you sure one of your sensors isnt gummed up, like the one in the rear view mirror ? They can get clogged up with dirt.

Also does the temp display on the dash read OK ?

Thanks Dave,

I've taken the sensor cover off and blew out a bit of dust, but is there more I should do on that sensor? Does it need to be dismantled at all, and if so how do the connectors release?
Every thing seems to be working, but the climate control just is not cooling the cabin when it says 16c

Thats all there is too cleaning the sensor.

Not sure where to go from here. You might need to get an air con specialist or an auto electrician to take a look ?

Ideally you need to dismantle the cabin sensor as its internal sensors tend to get caked in gunge. Surprisingly it just clips apart (well the one on my car does).
If the refrigerent level is low in the air-con system and when activated it may start to blow cold but then not have sufficient gas to continue it cycle:)

Hi There everyone, Im back with a similar problem with A/C.
Auto setting on climate control turns the fan down to min with A/C light on, but temp is 25 degrees outside and control set to 16 degrees. Revs increase when A/C switched on (They should drop. Compressor is not engaging, Ive got no cold air just outside temp air, Ive had diagnostic and got codes 029 and 090, I've tried using AUTODATA to help, but I'm no mechanic,A/C expert or auto electrician!

Help!!!!

When air-con is engaged the engine speed should drop only momentarily and then recover either back to normal or slightly higher.
When was the system last serviced and has it been checked for leaks?:)

Yep, gas full, no leaks detected (I even had it done again recently to make sure) and I know the revs should drop and recover, but in my case the revs increase and then recover and the compressor never engages, DF090 says "compressor command" open circuit, DF 029 says "de icing distribution" motor circuit.
Red and Black say nothing with ignition off and red says short to earth when running, black - nothing.
Any clues?

Does anyone have anymore clues for me, I still have this problem, even after over a year of looking.
Even though I've had eight Renaults, I'm quickly going right off them at the moment.

just had a problem with my air con, fans & pump click in when the button is pressed, the low side pipe [big alu one] was getting warm/hot, had a air con man look at it, it was the expansion valve on the bulkhead that was faulty, replaced it and regased it, coldest it as ever been,
