My brother has got the ablve car. It is a 2ltr. He needs to change the bottom ball joint on the front wheels. He has it all apart ready to remove but we don't have the tool it says to use in the haynes manual. We have tried everything to get it out but can't do it. Has anyone changed these before and have you any help, tips please.

If no-one has anything does anyone know where I could get the tool from quite cheap please?

Help will be very much appreciated, thanks.

OK - two approaches here: Reliable and safe and slightly iffy.

Reliable: go to Franklin tools or Laser tools, buy the tool and do it properly.

Iffy - Take a blow torch (or plumber's lamp) and heat the arm, not the joint. It should expand enough for you to knock out the joint with a mallet. Chuck the new joint in the freezer for 24 hours and heat the arm up before inserting. Should just knock in. Over do the heating and you'll warp the arm. You have been warned.
