Hi all, my 1st post here:sunny: but not my 1st Renault.

I have a 2009 Megane III Dynamique which has the digital speedo dash, would the analoge dash from a Megane III work as a direct swap?

thanks

I have the brightness adjuster switch.

Does anyone else know if its possible to swap the analoge cluster from the GT/GT line into the Dynamique that has the digital cluster?

I think it would just be plug and play, as far as I know, the digital clusters have one plug connection on the rear of the unit?

Anyone help shed some info on the analoge dials?

Thanks

I can't see it being too difficult as manufacturers seek to keep parts as interchangeable as much as possible, and the same engine options are availble in the differing trim levels.

If the issue is excessive brightness, another option, which is much cheaper/easier and doesn't risk losing your mileage info (worth bearing in mind for resale purposes), would be getting a company which does window tinting, to apply a film over the display. There are various levels, from 5% upwards, and you could probably choose the level of brightness you desire.

This also has the benefit of being removable, should the next owner desire.

u really, really, really need to find out 100% that your mileage isn't stored on your clocks,,, contact reno before u change them, if no one here is sure

if u get another set with different mileage its going to mess about with your mot, your insurance, and when u need to sell it theres no proof of how many miles it truly done

Renault contacted me, they said its 549.55 +VAT for a new analogue speedo cluster. But said they were unsure weather it was interchangeable with a digital cluster as they have never tried it before. They also said there maybe issues concerning dash looms, radio interfaces???

But 549.55+vat I think i will stick to my digital speedo!

Well as I decided to to pay Renault £100's for a cluster that might not work, I set out to look for a cluster on ebay. I found one from a Megane RS250 that was being broken up. Didn't pay much for the cluster so I thought I would take the risk and try it in mine.

Although my Megane isn't a sport model, the rev range on the dash is the same as mine, so its pretty much the same layout.

Took my digi cluster out and plugged in the analogue one, to my surprise, it works!! :)

Rev, speedo, temp, fuel gauges all work.

Illumination of dials work.

LED screen works with all the mpg, average speed, distance till empty, doors open etc.

The trip computer even recognises the cars original overall milage :) so no problems there!

Just a couple of things:

The heated seat warning light it always on.
I also get check parking sensors & tyre pressure sensors message on the dash.

Other than that, it works as it should.

Nice that you would rather have a brilliant yellow rev counter than a slightly over-bright digital display!
Still, at least you can sell the digital display, probably for a profit.

You could also sell the info back to Renault, so they know for next time...

what about the mileage? did your original mileage get preserved? because the renault technical procedure for changing speedo instructs you to use the clip software. It says to perform a software procedure before removing the speedo and then another software procedure after installing the replacement. This re-configures the new speedo to match your programming on the car.

By not following this step, you may be risking certain things not working properly (specially critical warnings)

Everything works as it should on the new cluster.

The car's mileage must be stored on the ecu as when I plugged in the new cluster is was showing my original milage. I swapped back to the digital cluster to check and it updated my milage again. So theres no problem in the odo readings :)

All the warning lights on the new cluster work, except on the led screen it says to check parking sensors (I don't have fitted) Check tyre pressure sensors (I don't have fitted). This can be bypassed by scrolling through the info on the screen.

You should be able to disable the parking sensor and TPMS via the clip software and that should get rid of those errors.

You'll need to get these sorted before your car is due for its first MOT otherwise the new MOT regulations that come into effect early next year require checking for errors on the dash display and can cause mot failure

Clip consists of the clip software along with the clip hardware with OBD connections which renault use. It's a little expensive to buy if your planning a one-off. Best option is to take it to an independent renault specialist that have access to clip software and they usually can offer re-programming

There are a few Clip softwear/hardwear kits on ebay by the looks of things.

Would the clip deffinatly be able to disable the warning messages on the dash for things I dont have fitted? Ie; parking sensors, TPMS, heated seats.
