after disconecting wiring from window motor to diagnose fault on window regulator wiring reconected but when pushing up or down switch window only moves about 50mm and stops.after releasing switch and then pushing it again window moves 50mm again.after replacing regulator due to cracked clip fault remains.it requires up or down switch to be pushed and released about 8 times to fully open or shut window.any ideas apreciated

This is a common problem with all window regs
When the window is up fully lift and hold switch for 10 seconds.
This will reset the. On some regs the window needs to be open fully aswell. In this case press switch and hold for 10 seconds.

hi there. held window up for ten then fully open for ten seconds and again closed for ten seconds. window then opened on its own and now works normally. many thanks for your help

Normally you reset the window in the up position first so then the window automatically goes down to reset the lower limit. That's all that happened. Glads it's working now though. :d
