Yep agree with all the above.

Just to add...Hang them all now and free up jail space for the rest.

Even better. Perhaps this could be made into a national event every three or four months;) We could all go along to watch and throw pigs**t at them whilst they walk the 'green mile'.

think of all the money tax payers would save - by not over crowding prisons, food , heating, clothes etc etc.
makes better sense than charging motorists even more than we pay already :steam:

Okay, but we do have the issue of capital punishment being irreversible. There are still miscarriages of justice in this country, and sometimes sentences are overturned in light of new evidence years after conviction. It's kind of difficult once they've already gone up the chimney.

But some of the US states (Texas is one, I think) were looking at putting an 'express lane' in for dead-cert murder convictions - i.e. ones where there had been at least three independent credible witnesses. Instead of staying on death row for months, they went straight to the electric chair/gas chamber/being forced to cross the freeway blindfold on a pogo stick. Maybe we could bring back capital punishment for murder on a similar basis.

Of course there would have to be very serious repercussions if it turned out that someone deliberately gave false evidence which led to a capital conviction.

So a longer sentence is the right course "AND NOT LETTING THEM OUT".

Very true ... but bear in mind we are more technologically advanced nowadays , so lots of crimes can be proven beyond a doubt .
