In 68 I was an apprentice on £9 14s 6d. Rent was a fiver. Must have been better paid in the South West. My dad was on £20 a week and I thought he was rich.

1972 I started work as an apprentice at just under 6 quid a week gross pay.
In 52 would likely have been pennies not pounds per week.
1968 £4, 2 shillings & 8d :nerd:

mere whipper snapper here, 1982 had to march into the office to get my £10 weekly wage, screw up the march in and halt = no money - Army of the 80's

Started in an architects office in 1970, 17 years old, straight from school - got the princely sum of £5 a week and a 15p (in new money) luncheon voucher. That 15p actually got you pie beans and chips and a carton of milk in the nearby self service restaurant!!

The paperwork as come back for both bikes the Black one the NG is very original engine frame and reg all seem to be original and match the Ariel factory records
such as they are it even seems to have it's orn tax disc holder a brass affair with a very fine screw thread a true survivor 72 years old so it had been built 2 years before me, hard to believe it was on the road wile I was still swimming about in my dads scrotum.
