If the steering wheel is having to be held to keep the car straight, the tyres will be wearing unevenly. Check for slightly greater wear on the inner treads of the front offside tyre. The possible causes are excessive toe out, a worn rear axle RH bushing, a worn front suspension component, a misaligned subframe or accident damage.

As long as the tyres aren't directional, swap them side to side and see what happens then.:)
