I've bought a 51 plate Laguna. When I turn the radio on , all I get is SPEECH in the display. The local Renault garage don't have a clue, nor the local independant radio specialist. Any ideas? Any help would be gratefully received.
ps The car is not fitted with a phone kit although it may have been in the past.

Do you have the synthesizer voice that warns you of failed bulbs etc? If you do you will find the word "speech" appears on the radio display if you have the voice turned off when it warns you of a problem.

Thanks for the reply. I don't know if I've got the synthesised voice feature (it's a Dynamique).
The radio does not work at all. I've taken it out disconnected it and replaced it. When I turn it on, CODE comes up very briefly (only for a second or so) then it goes to SPEECH.

one of the pins on the ISO activates the mute function on the radio/cd head unit, looks like that line is active so overrides head unit and displays speech!

look under the gearstick leather gaitor for the yellow/black hands free connector, someone might have previously hacked it about to fit a nokia hands free, i seen one in a yard that had been messed about with, instead of having the correct adaptor cable fitted.
yours might be the same.
