New member. Great site. Have read all your posts so far for related problems re my Renault Clio 1.5 diesel 2004 and followed advice on site but now stuck. Replaced imobaliser sensor had the diesel fuel pump and fuel injectors totally serviced, TDC sensor cleaned not yet renewed, ECU sent for testing found to be faultless. Need to know what other sensors to check before checking the wiring loom. Will not turn over or even start when cold as pre heater warning not on. Occasionally lights up and starts works for a day or two then shuts down altogether when driving in town or on highway so no pattern. Waiting for new hazard warning light switch to arrive as this was faulty. Any suggestions.

Thanks for your quick reply. Yes the starter motor will not turn the engine at certain times especially when the glow plug indicator on the dashboard is not lit.

Why was this changed, " Replaced imobaliser sensor" and are you referring to the part that goes around the ignition lock?????

At the beginning of this nightmare I would turn the ignition key and nothing would happen. The imobaliser light stayed on or sometimes it would flash. This happened occasionally then got more regular. Renault did diagnosis and said I needed "receiver immo ring" not sure where it fits. When car returned following day would turn over but not fueling. Back to Renault and had 4 x fuel injector overhaul, fuel injection pump, injection pump reconditioned. All in all spent euro 1,600. But car worse than before which brings me back to first post.

Check the relays under your bonnet ,,,the three smaller relays, also one of the larger fuses is the glow plug power supply
If you can post a picture of your fuse box will mark them for you..

But would be checking you have a good connection on each fuse, and relay first.
Before you start stripping a loom out

Many thanks will post picture tomorrow. Waiting to get the ECU back from Testing Centre. I am sure I will need this before I follow your suggestions. Very appreciative of your help. Will keep you updated.

sounds like an electrical fault ,the fact that it runs when it does rules out mechanical issues it could be something as simple as a fractured wire with the insulation still intact, the hard bit is finding it check for wiring prone to vibration under the bonnet and also look for evidence of scotc blocks being fitted under dash ,any fault codes showing up

Many thanks checked all of above. We do not have a reader so will take to a garage when we get the ECU back. It tested fine. Will get back to you when we have the fault codes. Much appreciated our2012 and Marknic.
