Hi,

I have some noise coming form the rear of the car. I think it is coming from the rear drivers side wheel. The noise is a constant noise, a bit like a motorbike engine in my boot. The noise is not a knocking noise and is louder when doing about 35-40 mph and less when going faster. Not so noisy when on a slight right turn. I am guessing wheel bearing, does this sound likely. On a Megane 1998 cabrio 1.6.

I agree, it does sound like a bearing.

However, just to confirm your suspicions, I'd swap the back tyres over, just to see if the sound moves with it (it'll be a fault with the tyre then), if it keeps coming from the same side as before - then its the bearing/hub area.
