Wifes 1.4 Modus expression recently purchased (05 model) only has speakers installed in the front. How easy is it to fit two more speakers in to the empty speaker slots in the rear door panels?
Will the wiring be there and is it just a case of getting a pair of speakers and fitting in place? If so can I get from Renault dealer or Audio car shop? Any advice appreciated.
Thanks.

Just wondered if anyone has upgraded their speakers in their modus. I got a privilege spec modus with a four speaker cd/radio system and the sound isn't that great. I'm guessing its more to do with the speakers than the head unit...

Hi Hobby,
I've got a 56 plate Expression (well, an Oasis really but it's the same) and I wanted to improve the dreadful standard sound.
I already had a pair of 13cm sized speaker units from the rear doors of my previous car (05 plate Clio) so I put those in the rear doors of the Modus. It added slightly to the warmth of the overall sound but not really to the clarity.
Use a flat head screw driver to prise off the grill cover and you'll find the wires are sitting there waiting for you. The connectors are a bit like BT spades. Insert the spade connector to your newly aqquired 13cm speakers and use 2 screws to fit them 'tightly' in place. The door already has a bit of white foam sound deadening in place but as you have the grill off it might be a good time to put a bit more in.
Only question is how much are you prepared to spend on the speakers? You might spend as little as £10 or as much as £500.
Also, most car audio specialists will tell you not to fit speakers to the rear doors. It's better to change the fronts for a really good pair.
Hope this helped.:)

try some speaker rings you can get them off ebay, these greatly reduce the reverbaration on the plastic of the speaker mountings...again off ebay or a good car audio stockist (not halfords)

I'm having a new JVC stereo fitted to my Modus Oasis next week. The guy fitting it said he may not be able to connect up the steering column controls...has anyone replaced theirs and managed to get them connected.

Also looking at repacing the front speakers and adding speakers to the rear door...how easy is this? Is it a DIY job? Have yet to prise off the mesh grills and take a look behind them:eek:

cheers
