OK...Another day, another fault
N Reg Renault Espace 2ltr Turbo Diesel
The Dashboard Temperature Gauge has decided to pack up. It started vibrating then just died and has not moved since. From what I can gather, it is wired through a Thermister. Can anybody please tell me if this is so and where abouts I might be able to find it please.
Thankyou very much.

Found it :)
It's a water temperature sensor that fixes into the engine in a very small gap in between the bottom RHS of the Thermostat Housing and the Cam Belt Cover. This wires directly back to the Dash Board Gauge.
Now I just have to renew the stupid thing.

Check the connection first - it is a known problem for the cable to break inside the insulation usually close to the sensor. Sensors tend to gradualy deteriorate - not suddenly.

Hi,
Thanks for that. It turned out to be the front end of the sensor had weathered and snapped off!! I bought a new one for £13.00 and fitted it. You need a mirror to be able to see the little beast and a long 16mm socket to reach it but it only took 5 mins once I found it. :)
