Hi

First time post so apologies if this is in the wrong place.

I have a 1995 Renault 5 Campus 1.4 which recently overheated and resulted in a tapping noise on the engine. I've now replaced the radiator, thermostat and top hose and the car is running happily with the exception of a tapping noise. I was recommended to reset the rocker settings to resolve it but the noise still exists.

Has anyone seen this before or can recommend my next step?

Thanks

I would take the rocker cover off again and see if one of the valves is sticking when the motor is turned over.
How bad was this overheating event?

Thanks Brendan, I'll try that and let you know how I get on. Not sure how to quantify the extent of the overheating, There was a large amount of smoke, the radiator was full of a thick orange (assume due to rust) gunk. I replaced both the top hose and thermostat because I was there rather than they had failed.
