Just had dual controls fitted on my 03 clio 1.4 16v, when i tried them at the garage, they work but the dual clutch is VERY stiff! they tell me its due to the drivers side clutch being stiff.

they recommended replacing the clutch cable first and if its no better then must be the plate. Is this a reasonable idea? ALSO, with the selfadjusting mechanism, is it resetable after replacement??

Im sure it wont hurt to have a new cable anyway, its on about 40K and is going to be driven by learners but i dont want to be throwing £25 at a part i dont need to replace. esp if the garage are talking rubbish!

Thanks

If the clutch is really stiff on the drivers side them I would definatly consider a new cable as new drivers need to learn clutch control and the best way is with a clutch that is easy enough to use.

The cable should do the job and if the 25 is including fitting I would jump on it. I would not worry about the plate at the time being though
