My wife has had her clio for 4 days now and was wondering what the red flashing light is for on a switch with a key symbol on it next to the gear lever, it only flashes when the ignition is off also it doesnt do anything when its pressed left or right, a mate says its an immobiliser, the clio is a 1.2 rl 96 p,many thanks

If it's anything like mine it is a switch for central locking, the red light flashes when all doors are unlocked.

It's an immobiliser light. It will flash when the car is immobilised and then if there are any problems help you diagnose them.

Mine goes off as soon as the plipper opens the doors

Thanks for the replies,when you say plipper opens the door are you refering to a remote central locking fob, reason being my clio has not got central locking.

The immo is actually a small program in the car's ECU.
Part of the immo is the actual key.
Key does not work - ECU does not work, hense car stays at home. :(
