I own a 1998 mk1 clio.

My front brakes have started to squeek can anyone help?

The squeek stops if i keep the car moving dead straight but the slightest movement on the steering wheel makes the noise come back. It gets much louder the faster i go and only tends to happen when the car has been used for a while and has warmed up.

The squeek also stops when i apply the brakes.

I hoped that the MOT might show a fault but it passd without a problem.

I have had a quick look and cant see and leaks or wear.

Does anyone know what this may be? Would a liitle bit of copper grease on th eback of the pads do anything? or is there a anti noise shim that may be broken?

Please help guys.

My first thought would be to take out the pads and apply a little coppper grease like you say, also the pads have an bit of metal on top that acts as a spring to hold the pads in place and stop them sqeeking. If someone has been in a rush when they have been fitted they may have overlooked it.
