I searched the threads to see if this has been asked before but couldn't find anything.

Laguna II Nov '06 2.0 dCi 150
The dash display tells me the first service interval is at 12K miles but the service book says 9K miles. I called my local Renault service center to ask them and got firstly silence, then 20 seconds of hmmm! and finally 'we don't know sir so to be on the safe side have it done at 9K'.

Has anyone else had this anomoly and can you advise which mileage to have the service ?

Many thanks

Double-check the handbook, because I'm pretty sure it says the interval is 9K for FAP engines and 12K for non-FAP. The 2.0 dCi 150 is a non-FAP, so the interval should be 12K.

It's a bit poor that the dealer doesn't know that though

Hi Horatio

It is the service manual that seems to be causing the confusion. The table shows all models at 12K EXCEPT models fitted with a particle filter (not mine) and 1.9 dCI, 2.0 dCi and 2.2 dCi engines. Wierd

Weird!

I've just dug out the service booklet that came with mine, and it only lists the 1.9 and 2.2 (both with particle filters) as being the exceptions. Maybe Renault have revised the service interval for the 2.0 since.

I reckon the only way to settle this for sure is to phone RCS and see what they have to say.

Edit: Just a thought, but are you sure it's not saying 9K for the 2.0 dCi 175 FAP engine that they use in the GT? This may well have the lower service interval due to having the filter. I'm still convinced that the 2.0 150 should be on a 12K interval.

Horatio,

I took your advice and called RCS this evening.
It seems I am not the first to be confused by this. The table has been revised and the new wording has caused the problem.
The words "models fitted with a particle filter and 1.9dCI, 2.0dCi, 2.2 dCI engines" is meant to mean '1.9dCI, 2.0dCi, 2.2 dCI with a particle filter' the former grammatically means something very different and was likely a translation drop off.

When I worked my way through the rest of the service booklet the Additioanl Operations sections makes it more clear the service interval for non FAP is 12K miles.

Thanks for your help

ps I also let my local Renault Service Centre know the news, as a good deed.

They obviously let their ambiguity specialists loose on the manual. Normally they only let them out when they need to specify towing limits :p

I don't know why they don't just say 'engines with a particle filter.' After all, that's what it seems to boil down to.

Glad you got it sorted anyway. :d
