when i put key in lights on dash go off and on 5 seconds later , when i go in engine bay theres a buzzing noise coming from back of engine

The noise you can hear is probably coming from the starter motor?

What engine is it ?

Is the battery charged?

Was the car starting okay before ?

yes it was starting bfore , the noise is coming from the potentiometer would this stop it from starting, 1.8 16v 2002

Do you mean one of the relays? that would stop it starting
