There seems to be a vent on the water pump cover that constantly leaks. Does anyone know why this would happen? Is it pressure release or just a seal gone that would cause this?

Hi Sukh and Welcome to the Forum :)
Coolant leaking from the pump vent hole is generally a sign that the seal at the pump shaft is failing and it's time to replace the pump.
It could soldier on for some time but if the bearing fails you will lose the timing belt and have a very expensive top end repair on your hands. Most people would take this opportunity to replace the timing belt at the same time. In the meantime keep a close eye on the coolant level and keep topping up as required.
Pumps can also leak from the gasket. This would generally be as a result of it not being fitted properly and would be evident soon after a replacement.
What is the history of timing belt replacement on the car?
