Hi,

I'm not sure some say it will pull off with extreme pressure others say it has to be cut off .

It's up to you what you do with your knob

Hi Frog - the gear lever knob is bonded on at the factory by a special two-part epoxy resin adhesive. The old one needs to be cut off using a hack-saw and the new one put back on using a similar glue. There are some out there that claim they can be held on with a small grub screw but I've heard reports that they come loose soon after fitting. Whe gluing th enew one it essential that all components be toroughly cleaned other wise th ebondig won't adhere.:)

Take care Mick - don't do what one guy on here did - he ended up pulling the gear lever out of it's socket - must have applied some pressure though - and guess what he still didn't get the darn knob off.

1.4 Renault Megane II 2007 PH2 5 Gear

Mine just pulled straight up with a little force (nothing major) once off you can see its a "T" shape gear stick left behind , so the gear knob can only go back on one way, just pops back down. very straight forward procedure but not a lot of info on it, Not sure about replacing the actual gear knob maybe there is away but if you pull it all off you would need a replacement with a "T" shaped hole

I was just replacing the circular plastic trim as my clips had broken off, botched job from the previous owner or garage they left it in with..

On Mine, chrome was chipped, bought from nonstopauto (ebay). New one was silver not chrome, but then it wouldn't chip, would it?
Levered old one up with a small screwdriver, easy when one has the new one in hand to see how it fits.
New one just pushed in.
