Take the panels off from under the bonnet. first panel just in front of the wiper blades, 4 screws, remove this panel.
Below 6 bolts, all with numbers by them.
Remove these bolts and remove this panel..

Look at the hearside wiper linkage thats now just visible,
Can you see signs of rust on it where water has been dropping down..
This water trail leads straight into the under bonnet fuse box..
Couple of torx screws hold the fuse box cover on,,, take this cover off..
Now clip the full fuse box out of its casing.. It pulls up and out, but you need a screwdriver down the side of the fusebox, and the casing it sits in to be able to lift it out,
Take pictures before you remove any fuses/relays..

Taking the part of the fuse box with the corner missing as being the top..this there is a column of 4 relays, The other side has 5 relays.
On the side with 5 relays in Take the bottom relay out, Now swap it with Number 1 relay Number one being closest to the missing corner of the fuse box..
Dont force the relays in, just slow pressure to push them back in
Try this see how you go on

I can't see how a petrol engine can run without a spark, so there must be a spark which shouldn't be possible if you have killed the power by turning it off.

I have only just seen "ours" response. I would do what he said.

After Ignition relay, is not switching off or Fuse box is screwed
Personally think its fuse box with the other symptoms, but always a good idea to swap the relays over first

YOU could be hearing the throttle body trying to adapt here

BUT
IS this with Key Out?
If key out and still buzzing . LOCK the car, wait 5 minutes, has the buzzing stopped?
IF not
Disconnect the battery, .
Check battery is now still charged, just use a volt meter. Any reading above 12.4 volts battery has enough to switch relays off..
Switch ignition ON, reconnect the battery..
Has the buzzing now stopped..
Again, check its not the throttle body adapting
Symptoms you have first posted points to the under bonnet fusebox.
If after double checking Earths, and power supplies, and STARTER, is working, then see if you can get it 1 diagnosed, or 2 plump for an under bonnet fuse box..

WORK out the two costs first..
IF someone wants to diagnose, and because its a non runner, and they want stupid money.
( Heard tales of 80 squid for a diagnostics )
TAKE the punt on a fuse box

If your battery is not charging whilst the engine is running your situation will likely be worse in the morning. Ideally we need to get to the bottom of this battery not charging issue ASAP.

If you're reading 11.4 volts with the engine running then your alternator is either faulty or not electrically connected.

Need to get it diagnosed now
Make sure you get ALL CODES from the car..
NOT a normal charging system, certain codes point to the alternator, certain codes point to the fusebox
DONT let any garage change the alternator on just a voltage test..
Insist on a diagnostics first, or walk away..
Funny electrics on the French cars.. ( Citroen and Peugeot also )
So many alternators get changed for the wrong reason, then get tucked up again when the car is started...

What were the fault codes listed..
Battery charge light would still give a fault code

Not many places can check these alternators..

The alternator itself is not a bad job to do, just time consuming.
Once front bumper is off, then you can get at the bolts, but you will need a jack under the sump, with a piece of wood on the saddle to lower and raise the engine ..

faults list was showing alternator connection fault and battery charge fault on dash , drove it home but just died half a mile from home , just no volts left , could it just be alternators regulator ,

So not had it Diagnosed,, or? New fusebox fitted..
And if donor, its been set up to your car, though plug and prey only new is really plug and pray, second hand one has to be told what size output alternator is giving.
So if you were fitting one with Aircon, but your car does not have aircon, or vice versa the underbonnet fusebox will be expecting a different data reading off the alternator, and asking different questions of the ECU , like what the tucks going on

yeshad it diagnosed and had a second hand fuse box fitted but made sure it was the correct part number
are you saying the fuse box has to be sincronised with the alternator and how is this achieved ?

should find somewhere in the diagnostics/configurations asking what size alternator is fitted
Get the New fault codes and post them, we can then look for you..
