is your Scenic manual or auto? If auto which I am guessing it is do any warning lights come on such as check gearbox when it drops into 3rd gear? Does it drop into 3rd gear with a jolt?
Hi , Thanks for your kind response it is an automatic gearbox and yes it does sometimes make a clang when dropping down. and the warning is "Check Gear box"
Thankyou
Bill
fault sounds like either the EVM solonoid valve or pressure regulation sensor. Your best bet will be to take your Scenic to an automatic transmission specialist. Some are members of 'Federation Of Automatic Transmission Engineers' (FATE). How old is your Scenic? If its not too old even if out of warranty you could give RCS a call and ask for a contribution towards the repair cost.
I had the same problem for 2 months. Automatic. Gear would sometimes not move from 1st gear when driving on motorway, said Check Gear Box.
Renault charged me £50 to test it and let me know what was wrong. Rip off! They said a solonoid valve needs replacing inside gear box. They would have to replace whole gear box & would cost £750.
I rang around & found a company that re-furbished gear boxes. They cleaned out Gear Box & re-furbished the valve for £450.
