I have a Auto Renault Scenic Megane 2004 MK2 and my instrument cluster (dashboard display) has gone blank on one half, the half that would normally show the time and radio channels.

PROBLEM SOLVING:

  1. So far I have checked radio fuse in glove compartment and that's fine.
  2. Radio has power and is turning on.
  3. Cluster removed from dash and checked pins for corrosion, they were fine but sprayed WD40 on them just to make sure.
  4. Radio removed and checked pins for corrosion, they were fine but again sprayed WD40 on them just to make sure.
  5. I bought a new cluster unit from eBay and when fitted the radio and clock displayed as normal (only issue was seller didn't list the cluster as for manual so had to send it back)
Because a secondhand cluster resolved the problem I have to assume that it's an issue with the cluster and not with the wiring/radio.
I have included a photo of the visible issue with engine turned OFF/radio ON and engine turned ON/radio ON.

Thing is I would like to retain the same cluster unit because it has the correct millage, transferring millage from my research requires specialist equipment and can be costly.
Has anyone experienced this issue before? if so how did you resolve it? Is there a DIY fix for this?

Any help greatly appreciated.
