Hello, i recently privatley bought a 2004 scenicII 1.5 diesel. The mileage on the MOT certificate said 60,000 miles as recorded at its mot in december 3 months ago. however the millage on my dashboard only says 1700.

i did not realise this at the time when i bought it, it was my 1st time buying a car and i thought that if it said 60k on the mot certificate then that was good enough. Now i am wondering and panicing as to why or how the millage on the dashboard has been reset.

I have double checked a million times and NO im not looking at the trip mileage lol

Would anyone on here know why or how it has been reset and how i can get it changed back to its correct mileage???

i also had the problem with fans not working, but due to the threads on this forum i was able to unplug the leads to the resistor and when i plugged it in again it wasworing on settings 1 to 3 :d

Its entirely possible that the dash has been changed following a failure. Renault do replace the dash but will not put the original mileage onto them. I would guess this happened 1700 miles ago, might be worth asking the previous owner if the dash had been changed.

There are independent auto specialists who can reprogramme the correct mileage back into the dash, even if Renault won't...

as said mate its prob had the dash changed as the last 1 may have been faulty its a common renault problem so i hear the like of dash fixer etc will set the correct miles back on your dash look in your local auto trader there may be 1 near you

so when or if i go to sell the car on i just explain this and keep a copy of the mot certificate?

and at the next mot they will just add the mileage showing onto the mileage recorded at the last mot?

the will not add the mileage up on the MOT, I would just explain the situation when selling on.....as long as you are not trying to sell it at the lesser mileage.
