Bit of a silly question this:

Can anyone tell me how the end stops come off the roof rack? I bought a second hand rear door renault cycle carrier and it needs to fit onto the rack however the grub screws in the end stops just go round without coming out - do they normally come all the way out? Have tried penetrating oil, twisting them at an angle to get purchase but no joy. Am I going to have to drill them?

What do the screws do, do they press onto a plate or something? Anyone had the same problem? Any advice welcome before I get the drill out....

By the way its a MkIII 1998 Espace

Had the same problm. It is the efect of corosion in the alloy it then ends up turning the 'nut' in the plastic. The grub screw lifts the sole plate which then presses against the rails.
You need to get at the 'nut' - wedge a srewdriver or something similar to lock the nut, then try unscrewing the grub screw.
