Hi Guys

I have just brought a Scenic 2 1.9 dci 2007 non runner. It will not start, Turns but will not fire up.

Previous owner took Car to a garage car was smoking, he was told its the Engine, he had the glow plugs changed, piston done and seals.
It started up once all that was done but still smoked. He took it to another Garage and they told him that it is the Turbo, he had that replaced.
Once all back together, he ran the car or an hour and then it stopped running, he tried to start it again. Took it to another garage and they had it for 2 month and done nothing, they said that it was the ECU.

I got the car home had to tow it, and today I put the Delphi on and did a scan, scanned all segments but not the Engine, said no communication

What do you think the problem is, It turns over but will not fire.

I took battery out, negative terminal not looking great, very dirty, not sure if it not getting a good connection?

Please can any one help

Thanks
Ian

try running in a new negative earth feed if you think the old one is that bad, does it turn over at normal kind of speed and does the immobiliser light go out, i would check to see if there is a fuse for the obd socket first, if you can't get communication with the car then it is quite possible it can't speak to itself.
I hope it didn't cost you very much with that history.

sorry just spotted you said terminal, give it a clean with some wire wool, check voltage (ideally with a proper battery tester if you have access to one), i low try charging, if battery is ok then slap some Vaseline on the terminal (helps with conduction) reconect and try again

I have taken off the Mass flow sensor, and found the the terminal was wet, a drop of water in base of connector, both ends damp, See pic attached.

mass flow sensor seems to be new, clean. See pic

On taking this out I notice a Pipe that has been blocked with a bult in it, I think its the Turbo Va cum pipe, not sure were its meant to go, see attached pic

if you haven't already i would check the state of the battery and if thats ok check the voltage being sent back by the alternator, unlikely it will clear all the faults but its amazing how many codes a low battery can throw up, alot of the codes from skimming over seem to relate to voltage so probably a good idea to start at the power source, its a difficult one because there are so many apparent faults so it it really a case of where do you start?

I also thought it maybe the battery, the one that came with car was flat and old. I replaced it with my new Battery 652 and the same. I have brought a battery for it also a 652.

I will check the Alternator tomorrow.

I was also thinking that it maybe the alternator, the previous owner said he ran it for an hour after turbo done and then died. He was idling it for an hour. So I thought that maybe the car ran for the hour off the battery and died because alternator not charging battery.

Get under the passenger seat you tart, and check the fuses/wires.

with you having an All black fuse box, have you checked all the fuses in this..

Under the bonnet , Remove fusebox, Under the fuse box, Large fuses, remove them and clean the contacts ( Fuse legs ) .

The Tart has checked the fuses under that seat and all looks good. The Connector under set, does not look like its connected right, see pic 1, but is snapped down with plug leaver

The Long fuses under the bonnet fuse box are all good. The Fuses in the fuse box under the bonnet were brown, cleaned them quite a lot of them
See Pic 2

Its in a Black box, I had to take the Black lid off, undo the white fuse box that is slid into a black plastic envelope. Under this fuse tray is the big fuses. The box is black before you take it apart.
