Hi,

Recently bought a 52 plate Scenic 1.6 16v Dynamique with 32k miles.

Drives fine apart from the following:
1) Clutch squawk
2) To me it sounds noisy, especially compared to my other car (Mondeo Ghia). I tested this on motorway at about 80 mph - I put the car in neutral but kept the revs constant (at about 3500 rpm). The drop in noise was dramatic

I have had the clutch squawk checked by the garage which sold me the car - in fairness, they only had a cursory look at the linkages etc and said all is working fine.

I also had a local garage I have used in the past have a quick check of the gearbox oil (which is fine as well).

Three questions therefore:
1) Any ideas re clutch squawk - is this a serious problem
2) Are Scenics noisy at motorway speeds?
3) Do these symptoms suggest any known problem?

Many thanks

clutch squawk

Does it sound like a bearing type noise ? not sure what a squawk sounds like - if you put it in neutral then the clutch
is not under pressure but then nor is the gearbox - I think you should get it checked out at a Renault garage proper - because the Scenic is not noisy at speed and if you just bought it then there must be some sort of warranty.
