The fuel gauge on our petrol scenic is reading far too high, ie instead of the needle being at 2 o'clock at full it has swept over to 10 o'clock.
However the digital display in the instrument panel seems to give logical readings.
This could be an earth problem, tank sender unit problem, or something else?
Has anyone else had this and can point us in the right direction??

Wonky Fuel Gauge

Hi Bessy, Sounds like a voltage regulator problem. The fuel gauge and sender unit usually operate at around 10 volts and not 12v like most other circuits on the car. As the main circuits are subject to varying voltage a voltage regulator is used to smooth out any surges. I suggest you have the voltage going to the guage and the tank unit tested. If the voltage is OK I would suspect the tank unit is faulty.
P.S. Is the temperture guage working OK.:)

Temperature gauge

Thanks for the suggestions.
The temperature gauge seems fine but always reads low and will only ever get to halfway in traffic on a hot day!
