Hi folks, looking for some advice if possible please.

There is a gear selection fault with my Scenic. The cross link at the gearbox is disconnected and the ball and socket inside the gearbox housing is worn.

It seems as if a replacement part ball and socket would do the job, but I am not sure.

If so, how much do these parts cost, are they easy to come by and is this an easy job to do yourself?

If not easy, does anyone know what a garage may charge?

Many many thanks in advance,

Kris

Hi,

Was at a breakers today and they said this part cannot come off and a new gearbox is needed. Is that accurate?

Additionally, does anyone know the correct term for this part?

Thanks again,

Kris

The easiest way is to check at the Main Dealer. Get him to scan the pic and show you what part nos. are available. Registration no. is usually sufficient.

If the metal ball is still attached and in good condition, you should be able to just replace the plastic socket and circlip.

Socket and circlip should be around £5 at a dealers.
