Hi,
This one seems to be beyond my local dealer.
We have a 2008 Scenic II 1.6 Dynamique Auto. In January the dealer changed a "solenoid" in the gearbox. After a couple of months the car started with an intermittent fault where the throttle occasionally "dies" for a few seconds when the car changes gear. This is always when pulling away, say out of a junction. It doesn't happen when setting off from rest. It only seems to happen when accelerating lightly. The throttle just dies for about 3 seconds. Flooring the accelerator during this time does nothing. After the 3 seconds, the car pulls away as normal and the fault may then not occur for a few hours or even days.
Its a bit hairy when it happens when you're pulling onto a busy roundabout!
Does anyone have any suggestions? My dealer is clueless!

I've seen elsewhere on this forum that people have had similar problems when they have had "sticking" brake lights. I'll try to look into that possibility....

The happy ending!
OK. I investigated the sticking brake lights by following the wife while she was driving and watching her brake lights, while we were both on our phones (hands-free, of course!). She shouted out when the engine died and I looked at the lights. The was no sign of the brake lights coming on.
Still bewildered I left it for a while and the problem got steadily worse.
Eventually I took it to my local Renault specialist, Reno-Tech of Llandudno Junction. He took it for a drive with his computer still attached and whilst no faults appeared there was an inconsistency - the brake pedal was seemingly being pressed occasionally whilst the accelerator was down.
I told him about the posts here and he told me that the brake switch has two circuits so I wouldn't necessarily see the brake lights come on.
In a nutshell, the switch was changed and the problem is sorted. Seemingly the gearbox was affected too as the changes are now noticeably crisper.
I hope this helps someone else one day - like my local Renault main dealer!
