It would seem my gas struts are on there way out and so its time to replace them plus with the addition of a bike rack im after some uprated struts to deal with the extra rack weight....any ideas on a uk cheap supplier .....or will a broom handle be the cheapest option:d

Have you tried Ebay there seems to be some one always selling tailgate struts on there
