Hi all,
Hope someone can help. Got a 1998 2.0L RXE Scenic (manual) with issues. It can one of five things:
1. not start and blow unburnt fuel through the exhaust.
2. start and have rough and low idle untill reved.
3. start normaly but occasionaly stick at high revs.
4. start normaly but cut out at junctions.
5. start and drive normaly.
I thought it was the idle controll valve so i have changed it but no change, maybe a sensor?
dunno if connected but the temp and fuel gauge behave as if they have a bad earth. (wouldnt mind a fix on that as well!)
as i say i hope someone can help, chears Chris.

Thanks chris m

since i posted my prob, the problems have diminished. Just got a cold start issue now which leads me to think you are right about the inlet sensor. a mate told me that it would take a wee while for the ecu to learn the new Idle Control Valve, it would seem he was right as the motor pulled a caravan 300 miles this week with no real issues. Only the cold start problem remains (and the bloody fuel/temp gauge). It sorts itself out after a few minutes running or after it has stalled.

Thanks again Chris :)
