These are two very good tutorials.
First is how to post a HiJackThis log on beepingcomputer.

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial94.html

For those a little braver the second is how to use HiJackThis to fix malware problems.

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial42.html

And here is the entire list of bleepingcomputer security related tutorials.

If you make this your first port of call it should be great help when you have problems.

another great link from the same site which I use on a regular basis is

Autoruns

You have to run it in administrator mode and it searches for everything on your computer that has the ability to Auto Run when your computer starts, leaving it on the ALL tab is the best way then you can quickly look for anything that is coloured in Pink ( something that autoruns thinks maybe a bug/malware etc) as in the attached image of my machine, the first pink line is for a program called pokeit, which I use for screen grabs, so although it is pink I am happy with that being there, also we have yellow lines, if you look at the right hand column it is for "File Not Found" as I have unistalled Chrome, however, it is still trying to update itself, I have now deleted that line and therefore from the registry and it will never start again, you may find a some "file Not Found" that are not yellow, these can be deleted too . Dont just blightly delete all the pink lines, have a look at them first you may recognise the program that is running them, like I did with pokeit, and they are OK, if you are uncertain you can always google the program to see if it is malware or not.

in the second image you will see a few yellow lines with WOW in them, THEY ARE REQUIRED BY WINDOWS TO RUN - DO NOT DELETE THEM, they are the only exception to the rule
