Hi, my daughter has a 1998 Clio II and the brakes are spongy when the engine is running but firm when the engine is not running. I suspect the servo check valve is faulty but not sure, Can anyone confirm and if so, suggest somewhere where I can get a replacement. Thanks

Get them bled first and see what happens

If you hold the pedal hard with the engine running, does it creep down?

Hi notanissan, no had the car for a few years.
Hi danthevan, No the brakes go spongy as soon as you start the engine. If you hold the pedal down, as soon as you start the engine the brake pedal then goes soft immediately.

If the brakes were okay until recently but have gone spongy it may be leak in the pipes or calipers letting a tiny amount of air in.
If the fluid has not been changed for years the master cylinder seals may have perished.
