Afternoon All,

Happy Bank Holiday to you all :p

My Scenic 2 Ph2 has been a bit on the weird today, she starts fine, runs fine, drives fine. When i shutdown the engine it shakes likes crazy and sounds really knocky. Is it just because its cold etc?

I'm not quite sure about more modern diesels, but I know my 2.2D and a lot of VAG 1.9 TDIs have an anti-shudder valve which cuts the air to the engine when it's turned off. If it's only during shutdown it's possible this has jammed open?

Furher to Azuraels comments it does sound like the stop damper valve (also known a throttle body) isn't working correctly. It acts similar to a butterfly flap which cuts the inlet air supply during shut-down.:)

Could be something as simple as a disconnected electrical connection. Why pay Renault around £90 to stick it on their computer when a half decent diesel specialist could tell by looking and maybe cost you nothing for looking.:)
