Hello all,

I am wondering if anyone can give me some idea of what is involved in repairing the problem I have with my sunroof.

I have a 53 plate (Jan 2004) Laguna hatchback with an electric roof. I have been told that the sound deadening material between the roof lining and the roof has collapsed and is disintergrating, resulting in the jamming of the sun blind and electric roof when trying to operate in full open mode. Chunks of the sound deadening material have appeared on the top of the sun shield itself and I am keeping quite a collection on my dashboard.

Am I looking at a major and costly repair here or is it a straight forward job for a Renault dealership? Going through the service history, the car suffered the same problem in 2005 and was fixed under warranty, and I have also had it in the shop for 'a grinding sunroof'.

I don't use the roof often but would like the option of using it, seeing as it is there.

Any advice would be most appreciated.

Cheers,

You're probably right. It may lead to the discovery also of why the rear windows keep fogging up unless I have a window open or the A/C and demister on the second setting.
Love the car though. It's my first Renault (ex Nissan 240SX and 200SX, Toyota Camry, Rover 400!!)and although I have had a few very minor issues with it, I put them down to the French sense of humour.
