Nothing to be lost by taking the TDC sensor out and cleaning it.

hello i hav'nt cleaned the tdc sensor yet but now the car feels like its missing or very lumpy not only at tick over but at speed aswell.fitted new plugs 4000 miles ago.

Won't take long to remove & clean, usually two 10mm bolts below the thermostat housing, don't get carried away though, just remove the surface residue.
What colour are the plugs, i'd also remove & check those.
