i drained the water few months ago,

i removed the water pipe where the thermostat goes.

when the pipe was put back together, i caught & damaged the rubber seal aroundt the thermostat


this is the part i mean

not the actual housing.


does the rubber around this come seperate? or does it come as part of the thermostat.

as you can see the pic above does not have the rubber seal around it,

it comes with the thermostat kit
they usually come with several types of gaskets on universal kits.

i woulndt worry, just get some gasket sealant (golden etc) and slap some around it to seal it up.
