Hi guys.

The timing belt on my 6 year old Clio just went and the Renault garage are quoting £1800 to repair the damage (all four pistons etc.). The car has done 64000 miles - 8000 less than the recommended replacement mileage. It has been serviced regularly but recently at a local non-Renault garage. What would you do? Accept the bill? Kick up a fuss at an early failure? Sell it to them (they offered £200)?

Please help!!

Thanks for any comments that you make - all will be greatly appreciated.

to be honest I think that it is recommended to change the timing belt at 72000miles or 5 years whichever the sooner. I dont think that you have much redress unfortunately.
