Hi all,

I have recently fitted a towbar to my 54 reg 1.9 Trafic, all of the wires have been crimped onto the wiring loom with Scotchloks.

All of the lights on the trailer work fine independantly, but when the foot brake is on, neither indicators work on the trailer (and the audio buzzer does not sound). When the brake if off the indicators work fine.

None of the van lights are affected by this, just those on the trailer. I have tested the electrics on a second trailer board and the problem remains, so it must be in the wiring. Does the Trafic use multiplex wiring for some of the lights?

Any help gratefully appreciated!

Probably an earth fault either on towbar wiring or trailor. I had same problem. Reterminated earth from towbar and it cured it.

Cheers Mr Beef, you were exactly right - the earth was not good enough between the towbar and the vehicle. Thanks for your help!
