Hi
I have a New Renault Twingo Dynamique and have done approx 2800 Miles The mpg seems to be getting worse from about 50mpg when i first got it if driven carefully around town down to about 40mpg i do the same 40 miles route back and forward to work which does not include alot of driving in traffic its mainly "A" road driving
I have carefully run the car in doing everything advised , (Not going over 2500 rpm for the first 1000miles) etc etc
As it is i never go over 60-65mph i change gear at 2-2300 revs, i dont use the air con, i fill up at the same well known garage and have done since the car has been new i use the same old farty driving style since new and cannot understand why the consumption seems to be getting worse each week anyone else have a twingo dynamique can let me know what mpg they get or anyone have any ideas why this could be happening
Many Thanks

Hi there and welcome.

If everything is fairly constant (load in car/route travelled/speed & driving style employed), I'd begin by checking the tyre pressures for anything below what is recommended.

Hi
Thanks for the reply and sorry for posting in this forum
I check tyre pressures each week no load in car only myself and driving style is very careful as i stated i have never taken the car over 70! and never over 3000rpm (2000rpm roughly gear changes) so no changes in any of the above:(

40-50 mpg sounds about right for a Twingo. Small petrol engines drink heavily for the torqueless performance they offer and for the life of me, I can't see the point of them.
I would love there to be a diesel Twingo option here like there is in France. If there was, I'd get one without hesitation.

That's your opinion, and fair play, but what explains the change in consumption?

Is the aircon being used more as the weather gets warmer. perhaps?

Hi
Nope i use the same garage that i have done since the car was new ..im not sure if im expecting too much maybe but as i was getting up to 58 mpg about 500 miles ago it just seems to have got less since then there must be a reason somewhere

Try resetting the computer as after a while it reaches an average read out and then it hardly changes, this happened on my 1.9Dci it read 38 mpg for ages and since resetting its reading nearly 50 mpg and on occasions nearly 60 mpg, worth a try

i have been reading on the twingo owners club site about people who are questioning wether the twingo has a fuel filler/breather problem because some have only been able to get between 25 - 28 litres in the tank on refil (tank holds 40 litres)so maybe this is where your problem lies you might not be getting correct consumption figures because you havent been filling as you thought ?

take a look at the blogs on twingo oc site
