Rover 214 fitted with 175 65 14 tyres . recommended pressures 30psi front 30psi rear.
peugeot 206 1.4 fitted with 175 65 14 tyres. recommended pressures 33psi front 33psi rear.
The peugeot 206 is smaller and lighter than the rover. why would it require higher tyre pressures?
Further examples and an explanation would be interesting.

Nothing technical about it really, tyre pressure usually goes on the tyre size... I think. I'm pretty sure if you took both of those car's to a tyre shop to have the pressure's done they would put 30 psi in all the tyres for both cars.

Weight and size of the car ain't the only factors when deciding tyre pressures. You also have to consider the suspension and steering set-up and geometry of each partucular model.

For instance the camber, caster and pivot settings can vary greatly.
