Hi all,

my mother was reversing out of the drive tonight and she came back in complaining that the steering felt really heavy. I rushed out to find around 1 litre of oil scattererd all across the road! I instantly switched the car off due to smoke,steam coming from under the hood. Probably the oil hitting the exhaust. I have not drivin the car myself as i do not want to restart it.

The fluid is almost pink in colour and it is definately oil not coolant.

Anyone got any ideas of the point of failure here?

Seeing the power steering went belly-up I would suspect the pwer steering system has sprung a leak.

Have you checked its reservoir yet?

Atfer inspection it seems the area around the pas pump is soden with oil. It must be either the input or output pipe on the pump that is leaking. Were are the normal suspect places go?
