Hi, new to the forum and seemed the obvious place to ask about a Laguna 3 V6. Can people give me an opinion on this car and details on mpg, servicing, cam belt change etc. I really do fancy one of these as my friend has a Privellage model all be it the 1.8 version. They just look so much smoother than other manufacturers family cars. I am not too bothered about the mpg but just would like a real world answer not just the factory guide lines. Thanks for any help in advance andif somebody has one for sale give me a shout. Cheers, John.:)

hi,
I have owned the V6 initale for the past two years. In my opinion its a lovely car, coupled with the tiptronic box it makes a really good drive. I also think out of the Lag 2's this engine is the least troublesome , it has a throaty sound on accelaration and is quite fast as well . Mpg can vary depending on how you drive it ... 50 mph = 40 ish mpg , around town 22 mpg , bit of cruising and town driving combined should return around 28 mpg.
Insurance is quite cheap for the V6 , its around group 13 .
Service comes around at 36, 000 .. 54, 000 with just normal service and 72,00 is the cambelt change.
If you can try for the initiale as it has all the toys.
Great car .. go for it my friend ..
Let us all know how you get on and good luck .....

Chakota ;) ;)

Fasterdad - V6 Laguna 2 interest

Hi Fasterdad - welcome to the forum, what a place it is. I don't know what your budget is for a Laguna 2, I have a Laguna 3 3.0V6 Dynamique on an 02 plate for sale; tiptronic with all the toys and 48k on the clock; fsh and very good condition in odyssey blue metallic. The Laguna 3 is a lot safer car than the 2; of importance if like me you're a dad. Looking for around £3200 for the car for a quick sale; feel free to ask any questions you want to; will be glad to give more info if interest is demonstrated. Thanks, David.

I wll then start looking seriously to buy as soon as I am back. Yes England keep leaving a bad taste in the mouth but to be fair Isreal and Andorra played just to stop us qualifying. Laguna V6 For Sale

For Sale

You are looking at my 02 PLATE Renault Laguna Dynamique 3.0 V6 24valve Automatic Tiptronic 5 door hatchback.

The car is metallic odyssey blue, with MOT until 24.11.07 and tax until 31.5.07.

It has 48,600 miles on the clock, with FULL service history. (Mileage may increase slightly before sale as the car is in daily use) The car has recently been serviced on 20.11.06 at 48,356 miles and has 17.750 miles to go until the next service is due. The service interval is 2 years/ 18,000 miles on these cars. This recent service was carried out by myself, I am a qualified motor technician with the appropriate certificates to verify this and have been in the motor trade 14 years.

The original price of this car when new was just shy of £19,000. The automatic tiptronic gearbox is silky smooth and the engine has all the power, flexibility and performance you will ever want or need.

At the same time as the service, the car was fitted with new coilpacks and new front brake disc to ensure that everything mechanical on the car is as it should be.

The car is brimming with safety features; it was the first car in its class to acquire a 5star Euro Ncap crash safety record.

The incar entertainment has been upgraded, boasting a 4x50 watt Sony XR-CA400 clipoff head unit and a CDX601 10-disc CD changer to go with the car’s own 6-speaker system.

Performance is astonishing, as is the fuel economy considering what the engine can do. Like any car, the fuel consumption depends on your driving style, but the 210 bhp motor cruises along boasting an average consumption of 27mpg+combined and 35+motorway, which is phenomenal. The car is capable, where legal, of reaching 147mph plus…..

The interior which surrounds you whilst enjoying this performance is roomy, comfortable and very well equipped. It is unmarked half leather with big bolsters at the side of the seats to hold you and your passengers firmly in place. A total of 8 airbags protect you against any mishaps – but this of course is not a licence to drive irresponsibly…..

The carpets visible in interior shots bear the signs of daily use but will be immaculate upon collection by the successful purchaser.

The car body has a few marks and blemishes, but will be polished and presented to the best of its advantage as one would expect. Now on to the technical details…..

SAFETY FEATURES

ABS brakes with Emergency Brake Assist (EBA – helps braking in need of emergency)

Traction control with Electronic Stability Program (ESP – also aids the above in order to maintain control of the vehicle in adverse handling circumstances)

8 front, passenger, side and curtain airbags – it’s like riding in an airship.

3x 3point rear seatbelts with pretensioners; not merely a lapbelt for the middle passenger

Front seatbelt pretensioners with lockdown function to hold you firmly in place

Isofix anchorage points for child restraint systems

Child locks on the rear doors and manual locks on rear electric windows

Auto antihijack doorlocking device; this can be switched off if required. The doors lock automatically at a designated speed to ensure the occupants’ safety against intrusion by undesirables

Now on to the tech spec…….
Digital dualzone climate control (icy cold and working perfectly)

Cruise control

Power steering

4 electric windows, electric mirrors and electric tilt/slide glass sunroof with interior sunshield and wind deflector.

Remote central locking with deadlocking – stops undesirables gaining access through a smashed window

Renault Thatcham Category 1 security; keyless card pushbutton start system

Automatic dimming and de-icing exterior doormirrors and auto dimming interior rearview mirror – prevents you being blinded by those annoying drivers on main beam or with poorly adjusted headlights behind you

Front foglights
Rear spoiler
17” factory alloys with 225/45-17 tyres and locknuts. Loads of beef as per the photo
Onboard computer system; tyre pressure warning system and trip computer
Rear parcelshelf sunblind
Front footwell illumination on both sides, as well as illumination on all doors to prevent damage from passing traffic at night
Driver and passenger vanity mirror illumination, and the obligatory drivers’ sunglasses holder….
Front and rear cupholders – a necessity these days surely

EVERYTHING ON THE CAR WORKS AND IS PRESENT AND CORRECT.

Black half leather seating with adjustable lumbar support to front seats which are also height-adjustable and have storage compartments for those bits and bobs underneath. Adjustable steering column. As well as front 12 volt power for the cigarette lighter, you have a 12 volt socket in the front centre armrest, which is good to keep your mobile topped up out of sight to prevent snaffling by those undesirables. Also a FURTHER rear 12 volt output; ideal for entertaining kids with a DVD system J Another output is conveniently located in the boot, for such items as a hazard warning system or a compressor etc.

This car has all the power of a hot hatch but the practicality of a family saloon with a very large boot, 5door practicality and rear legroom, and performance which is there but does not shout it.

PLEASE CALL OR TEXT WITH ANY QUESTIONS ON
07835 428289. LOCATED IN WASHINGTON TYNE & WEAR; OPEN TO OFFERS, NO SET PRICE.

I stll want one....lol

OZBOD1, thanks for your opinion I have read that the dci is more problematic than most. My only concern with the V6 is I have been told that the auto box can be a problem area. Can somebody tell me when the cambelt needs changing is it 72k miles or at 5years old? Or whichever comes first!

Laguna V6

To the best of my knowledge Fasterdad the cambelt needs changed at 70k. You're right about the DCi engine; they're renowned for starting problems etc etc etc. They're lovely cars, just poor engines. The auto box on mine is fine, no problems whatsoever. In manual mode it goes like a rocket.

Hi Fasterdad,

Just to clarify things ... renault laguna 1 was phased out in the year 2000 and completely revamped with a new model which was the laguna 2 (saloon and sports tourer ) .They made two diesel versions 1.9 dci and 2.2 dci .. these i have been told have been the most troublesome. They also done three petrol variants 1.8 , 2.0 ide , 3ltr V6 . They come in a few model variants , top model (flagship as its know) is the 3ltr V6 initiale which has full leather and sat nav .

Just had my service book out and it states for the cambelt change, all petrol and diesel 72.000 miles (except the 1.9 dci ) 45,000 miles.
My V6 is reaching its 54,000 miles service which is just an ordinary service .. i shall do the cambelt when it approaches the 72,000 miles.

Hope this clarifies it a bit more ....... Chakota :) :)

Hi Chakota,

is it 72,000 or at 5 years as this would mean an 02 plated car would need to be done by now? I will ring my local garage and ask and get a quote for the cambelt change. I need to know so when I come off holiday next Saturday I will be looking at cars and will have to bear it in mind if it hasn't been done. :)

Hi fasterdad. I used to have a VW Bora TDI before my laguna V6 sport tourer. the only thing i miss is the 50+mpg. The laguna is so much fun to drive, especially when you put the tiptronic in manual mode. Plus with the V6 being descreetly styled, you can scare the monkeys out of all the boy racers at the lights.
The cambelt is 72K or 5 years i think, mines due soon. Renault quoted me £1300, but local specialist said £450

There is no Laguna 3. The original was obviously Mk1 then you had Mk1 Phase 2, Mk2 and also, I believe, the latest version which is Mk2 Phase 2

Yep,

1994-98 Laguna 1 Phase 1

1998-2000 Laguna 1 Phase 2

2000(Y-reg onwards)-2005(I think) Laguna 2 Phase 1

2005- Laguna 2 Phase 2

Hope that clears it up.:)
