Hi,

I have a 1.6 megane dynamique coupe on and 02 plate, and there appears to be a water leak at the bottom of the thermostat housing. I am loosing about half a litre every 1000miles. The housing cover appears to be made of plastic

Is there a gasket on the housing cover that can be replaced or is the sealing done by gasket seal paste?

Where is the drain point to drain the water out of the system?

Many Thanks

Hi Paul, There is no drain point on most modern cars - you just remove the bottom radiator hose to drain down the coolant system. Modern plastic thermostat housings that are made of plastic have a tendency to twist and become warped. It is best to replace the housing with a new one complete with gasket/seal. Whilst you are at it it may be prudent to change the thermostat whilst your in there. When refilling take your time and check for bleed points so you can eliminate air-locks.:)
