Hi, I have just done an oil change on my girlfriends 1998 renault megane scenic and when I looked underneath to see if any oil was dripping out I noticed something leaking out of her exhast pipe about 1/2 to 3/4 of the way along the pipe, Its obvious she needs a new exhaust fitted but can anyone tell me if its usual for liquid to come out of it?

Thanks

Hello and welcome to the forum.:)

It's perfectly normal for water (or condensation) to come out of the exhaust pipe as it's a by product of the chemical reaction that happens inside the catalytic converter. It is particularly noticeable if the car isn't driven very hard or used for just short journeys.

Have a carefull look at the exhaust as it might just be a joint leaking slightly rather than a sign that the exhaust is faulty.
